Itinerary for 10 Days from Tangier Grand Tour
1 Day : Tángier
Upon we arrived at the airport or ferry terminal of Tangier, the driver transfers us to the hotel. Today we have a free time to explore this bustling port city that was once the playground of international socialites, including writers, artists, musicians and politicians, (Paul Bowles). The city is a lively, cosmopolitan and historic Mediterranean feel, where we take some photos around this amazing city, after that we go to explore number of museums and sites. Finally, we go back to the Hotel in Tangier in order to have the dinner and spend our night.
2 Day: Tangier -Chefchaouen
Today as usual started with some public Moroccan breakfast, then we head to Chefchaouen. It is a magical town with a dream of thousand and one nights a beautiful blue and whitewashed Andalusian town nestled in the Rif Mountains, we stop there in order to enjoy the magical views and take some photos. The town is a relaxed, with small winding alleyways and market squares, where the women of the surrounding Rif come to sell their handmade crafts, and we buys some of them. Finally, the dinner and the night will be at the Hotel or Riad in Chefchaouen.
3 Day: Chefchaouen – Fes
We travel to Morocco’s most fascinating city and the world last surviving medieval city of Fes, after breakfast at the Hotel. We have a tour in the medina with its “souks” (markets) stopping at the gateway of the Royal Palace, the 9th-century Karouine Mosque and University, and take some photos. Before lunch, we visit the tomb of the city founder, Moulay Idris II. After that, we go to the traditional restaurants in the old medina in order to have a lunch. After lunch, we continue to explore the Najarine Fountain, the gateway of the Bab Boujloud, the old harem gardens and the Batha Museum. It is a very very busy nice day, we are very satisfied of this tour, after the whole busy day we must have a dinner in the Hotel and then spend our night there in Fes.
4 Day: Fes -Ifrane- Azrou -Errachidia – Erfoud – Merzouga (Desert)
We spend the fourth day on a scenic drive through the countryside with stops, for photos, drinking met tea, buying souvenirs etc… until we reach Erfoud, the last city where civilization ends. Step into the mystical Saharan landscape and have a ride by camel over the stunning golden sands of Merzouga as the red sunsets. As night falls, listen to the intoxicating beats the of Berber drums and song during the traditional ceremony of Moroccan mint tea(berber whiskey) and delight in a Moroccan feast of Harira soup, a savory tagine (stew with meat and vegetables), couscous, fresh fruit and exquisite Moroccan pastries. Finally at night we sleep under the desert clear sky and stars in a nomad Berber tent. Experience a sense of timelessness in the still, silent desert unchanged since caravans loaded with spices, gold and indigo crossed long ago. (Lodging is also available a local Auberge at the edge of the dunes.)
5 Day: Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Tazzarine – Zagora
This day starts with the sunrise in Sahara Desert. And enjoy a typical Sahara breakfast, then camel ride back to the hotel for a shower etc… then departure to the Palm Plantation of Tafilalet passing Rissani, the old Alaouite Sahara capital by the ancient Alaouite Sultans. After that we go to Alnif where lunch is waiting. After having some delicious Moroccan lunch we carry on the road via Tazzarine, Nkob oasis and Tansikht from here, we take an off road, which crosses the Draa Valley and its procession of palms until Zagora. Finally, we preferred to have our dinner before go to sleep in the rooms at Hotel or Riad in Zagora.
6 Day: Zagora – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Today we start with a typical breakfast, followed by departure to Ouarzazate along Draa valley with its thousands of palm trees plantation, continue through the typical village of Agdez, we cross the Anti-Atlas via Tizi N’Tinifift (1660alt), we enjoy taking many beautiful pictures. Then have some delicious Moroccan lunch before continue to Marrakech through Tizi N’tichka Pass. Finally, we can enjoy a delicious dinner before sleeping at Hotel or Riad in Marrakech.
7 Day: Marrakech – Essaouira
Today’s morning at leisure to absorb this mystical city; after lunch we depart to Essaouira, The journey to this former Portuguese fishing village offers up only a few roadside towns and the occasional Berber village. Jimi Hendrix made the pilgrimage, as did Bob Marley and Cat Stevens. In addition to the inspiration for Hendrix’s song, “Castles Made of Sand”. Essaouira known as Mogador also for its annual festival of “Gnaoua music”, we really enjoy breathtaking views. Some of the highlights that we visit: Place Moulay El Hassna, The Skala, the harbour, the ramparts the Jewish district called “Derb Lealouj” rebuilt by the alaouite sultan Mohamed Ben Abdulah in the 18th century, these are fantastic places. Situated on the Atlantic coast, it has a steady year round temperature in the C20’s, with an expansive golden beach popular with windsurfers and famous for its fresh seafood grills, Thuja woodcrafts and artists’ colony. Old Portuguese ramparts guard the walled city where you can watch silver craftsmen and wood carvers at work in one of the most charming medinas in all of Morocco. After all these visits we go to a traditional pharmacy and learn about natural medicines and cures, and a women’s cooperative where argan nuts are processed by hand into one of the rarest and most versatile oils in the world. After the whole busy day we must have a dinner at Hotel or Riad in Essaouira and then spend our night there.
8th Day: Essaouira -Safi – El Jadida – Casablanca
Before all we must have breakfast in the Hotel then depart to Safi, main fishing port for the country’s sardine industry and famous for its pottery, then we continue to Oualidia via the coastal road with its superb view for having our lunch in a local restaurant, after lunch we stopped for a while in order to see the interesting places and take some pictures, later in the afternoon we go to El Jadida, famous with its beaches and resorts. Our tour includes a visit to the famous citadel, reminder of the Portuguese occupation of the 16th Century, at the end of the day we will go to Hotel in Casablanca in order to have the dinner and go to sleep after a long day.
9 Day: Casablanca – Larache -Asilah – Tangier
Today our breakfast contains of fresh squeezed orange juice, baguette and fresh fruit, after breakfast we go ahead to visit Tangier along the Atlantic coasts to Asilah, a small village of artists, but also fishermen. The Medina is small where the houses are mostly blue and white we have the lunch there, after lunch we head to our Last destination, which is Tangier, and we spend our night in the Hotel lies in it.
10th Day: Transfer to airport or port of Tangier
The last day of the trip, our cameras are full of pictures, which describes the magical places in Morocco, we transfer to the airport or port, after experiencing the trip of life time.
